So how comfortable should I be bidding exclusively Bay Area with median grades and ties?

I'm bidding all NYC transactional with 3Hs and 7Ps. I have pretty good work experience. Other than Wachtell, are all firms still in play for me? Is there anything that I shouldn't bid?

4H with 2 of them in LRW. Minor ties to CA. If I bid NY, is everything open for me except for Wachtell?

Thanks to whoever started this. I suggest we adopt anonymous tags, as has been done in previous threads, especially if you're asking a question or posting a bidlist. It makes things easier to keep track of.

Hopefully some alums will stop by to answer questions. Good luck everyone.

Any idea whether H's in LRW or a 2 credit seminar are seen as "less" than 1L BLL classes?

In my experience no. Firms/judges generally seem to count Hs.

Some have suggested that judges may focus a little more on LRW grades in clerkship hiring (b/c writing is such an important part of that job), but that's very anecdotal.

How do I stand for EIP with 2DS, 2H, and 6P? Am I safe bidding solely on Boston (fairly strong ties), or should I also bid on NY to be safe? Any firms I shouldn't waste a bid on with my grades?

Also, how does 2DS, 2H, 6P translate to firms? Do they just read it as 4H, 6P or more like 6H, 4P, or somewhere in between?

Thanks!

Here we go. Do we put GPA on our résumé, or is that just gleaned from transcript?

3H (property, leg reg, elective) 7 Ps.

I want to split LA+OC/BOS/NYC somehow. Any recs on how to bid? I have strong soCal ties but am spending the summer in boston. I have a year of unrelated full time work experience, am interested in corporate transactional work, and have done some RA work for a prominent transactional law prof. Any advice is very much appreciated

The GPA officially exists for internal purposes (Latin Honors) only, so you are not supposed to put it on your resume, clerkship apps, etc.

Don't put your GPA on your resume for firms but for non firm jobs like consulting go ahead if you like.

Use OCS's guide about soft Hs (WE, Languages skills, etc). Also in one of the precious EIP threads there's a list of firms and their selectivity. Use this as a loose guide for formulating your strategy.

Beware of bidding west coast and/or DC exclusively. Everyone and I mean everyone who had nervous looks on their face towards the end of the week had done just that.

Ties are pretty much a flame. If you can convince someone to go on a date with you you can convince a firm that you really want to be in city X.

That brings me to my next point, having an engaging, outgoing personality that keeps the interviewer entertained can be worth 2+Hs. Interviewing skills are so important that if you are nervous about it, then you should start practicing now. Learn how to have a casual conversation about you, your resume, and your desire to bill.

I had 1 H and it was in Negotiation and dominated Boston and NYC with multiple V5/V10 offers.

EIP isn't the only answer, look into any job fairs in your target areas. Being. From HLS will get you a lion's share of screeners. If you have 0Hs/LPs start mass mailing firms now. While it might not turn out to be needed in the end (I know someone with an LP who did had multiple offers from EIP), it doesn't hurt.

Finally, this actually cannot be overstated. You go to HLS, you will get a market paying job. But you won't believe that until later so whatevs, go stress like you always have about everything.

Sorry about typos and stuff my iPhone doesn't like TLS.

Thoughts on 2DS, 6H (both LRWs), and 2P, and bidding primarily DC?

I'm banking on this big time so I hope it's true

3H/7P, ties to Boston, 3 years as a V5 paralegal, and diverse. Can I bid only DC and Boston and avoid NY? My sense is DC will be tough, while Boston will be more doable. Is that inaccurate?

3DS/4H (including both LRWs)/3P. Bidding NYC and DC with good work experience.

Are there any firms (ex. Wachtell/selective DC firms) that would be wasted bids or reaches?

4Hs/6Ps. 1H in an elective. 1-year work experience. Bidding NY. Average interview skills. Is V10 doable? What sort of firms should I be looking at?

It also has links to Vault, Chambers, AM Law, and NALP for each firm office. Just give me 'til the weekend to get that part published.

While I'm here, anything else you're looking for in the research tool?

Clerking is usually something you do out of law school. You should definitely go to a firm for the summer.

K-JD 2 DS 1 H interested in SF/SV -- OK-ish ties -- and NY -- no ties but that does not seem to matter.

For NY: is v10 going to be an option? Is it going to be worth bidding Cravath? (I know you're not supposed to do this but that would be my #1 pick)

For SF/SV: I assume MoFo is off the table.. What about Fenwick or Cooley? Any idea how grade snobby they are?

Is this true? I have read that MoFo dips below median for S.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
