Yes. I think I got 2-3. And another couple from open sign-up but those were a little less attractive. If you're from a secondary market, some of those tend to be quite available post-round one.

Different question from a different anon - do you know people who were able to get interviews from the resume drop at hospitality suites?

I was told by recruiters from a couple firms that they always have extra slots and if need be, are willing to stay later in the day to interview people that drop by the hospitality suite. Obviously they have to like you/your transcript, but I think showing genuine interest goes a long way.

Thank you for this, I didn't know about the extra slots!

I haven't seen a ton of success with it. But, for instance, they keep a lunch break and one of my fellow summers is at our firm after missing the bid, reaching out to a family friend, and getting slotted for lunch time.

I'm an associate at a V15 law firm -- I can assure you that (at least at my firm) you can get a callback by bringing your resume to the interview suite, talking up the recruiters, and showing a genuine interest in the firm. You don't have to have a special reason why you didn't get a screening interview with them. They just want to hire good people.

Also -- the people in the hospitality suite have real power with the hiring partners -- be nice to them, chat with them, it will definitely help.

Does anyone else have a government/public sector interview with EIW? Are you prepping differently for it? (3L advice appreciated as well!)

Just over two weeks left! Did everyone get their back-to-back interviews fixed?

I had one back to back conflict that they fixed. I didn't contact them or do anything -- they took care of it out of their own initiative.

I also tried emailing firms that I didn't get screeners with, but no response.

I had a bit of luck emailing firms I didn't have screeners with. They mostly told me to come by their hospitality suite and maybe to talk to a specific person there, but some asked me to email my application materials so maybe that'll help too.

So you didn't submit a cover letter or resume along with your email when you informed recruiting about missing the screener?

If I was emailing recruiting directly, I included a resume/cover letter. For a few other firms, I asked a networking contact if they had recommendations on who I should reach out to, and ended up emailing partners directly (I got good responses this way because I was able to namedrop). It'll probably still end up with me just going to hospitality suites though.

FYI you can massmail all firms you did not get interviews at. My NY firm is already interviewing people pre-EIW.

Does anyone have any advice for how many waitlists to opt into? I know you have to do all the interviews you are selected for, so does it pay to opt in to all of them or should I only do some?

Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Hamlet! Clearly everyone needs to sign up for some London screeners and hope for a callback to go see him, right?!

One week left! Don't forget to opt-in to waitlists and drop any interviews you don't want by midnight!

Hi NYU law students! I'm a 2012 SLS alum and just want to send a friendly reminder that you can put this info into http://www.biglawrefuge.com. If you haven't heard of it yet, it's a platform for sharing anonymous job statistics with your classmates. Help your fellow classmates out and encourage others to share! You can also add interview with your job applications (like on campus interview, callback, etc), so you can share that information as well.

Good luck everyone on OCI and congrats to those who may have callbacks/cb dinners.

Could anyone who was at the Interview Workshop please tell me what was said about hospitality resume drops? I watched last year's video because I wasn't able to make it and it sounded like they said you weren't allowed to schedule any interviews without going through OCS, aka no dropoffs. But the OCS emails we get seem to encourage them. :?:

To add an open interview slot to your schedule the same day, you have to go through the OCS person on site. But the "drop offs" just mean dropping off your resume/transcript at the hospitality suite, and if they like it/you hopefully something magical will happen - I.e., they will contact you about interviewing you during a break, lunch, or before or after the interview schedule, or a screener at the firm, or even straight-to-callback. You can "drop off" your stuff directly without going through OCS.

Ah, that makes sense. So dropoffs hopefully yield something outside of the "official" interview slots. Thanks!

Waitlist interviews look like they're up if you want to check them before the open period!

Didn't get anything off the waitlists but at least I had a tiny bit of luck in open signups. Up to 29 interviews now. I'm going to collapse next week.

Is anyone able to add slots so that you have back to backs? Or is that something you can only do morning of?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
