Honestly pretty similar to screeners. Pretty relaxed and chill. Just try to come across as normal and someone they'd want to work with. I bring a few copies of everything I have (resume, transcripts, etc) although they rarely if ever request it.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know what callback interviews are like? Copies of resume, transcript, writing sample, and (for Cravath) UG transcript.
Rarely been asked to produce any of them in CB.

Re: Columbia EIP 2015
Typically around 4 interviews with a mix of partners and associates (the associates tend to be more senior). Usually the recruiting dept will ask beforehand if you have any practice group interests, and the interviewers will typically be drawn from whichever groups you list. The interviews themselves are sometimes a bit longer than your screeners (think 30-45 mins rather than 20), and they can vary from more serious/substantive to just shooting the shit/discussing your "Interests" section. Be ready for both, but overall just be sociable and normal. If you go in the morning, the firm will usually take you out to lunch after your interviews, (usually with junior associate(s)) which is nice/more informal, but still part of the interview.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know what callback interviews are like? Re: Columbia EIP 2015
Firms send out CBs weeks after EIP. When people from CLS cancel CBs, firms often fill those spots with other CLSers. I've cancelled 3 so far, and expect those spots will soon go out to other classmates, if they haven't already. From what I've seen, most firms plan on taking more summers this year, so numbers for us should be solid this year.Anonymous User wrote:Welp. Have good answers for "why this firm." Look into practice areas and try to have a feel for what the office does (i.e., which groups are there). Try to have a decent handle on how the firm markets itself/know their buzzwords.Anonymous User wrote:Can you recommend how to study or prep for the more serious / substantive aspects of CBs?they can vary from more serious/substantive
Make sure you're always ready to have questions in case you get hit with the immediate "do you have any questions for me?"

With half of my 21 interviews getting back with rejections, and no positive news yet, I'm sorry, but I'm very very pessimistic.Anonymous User wrote:Firms send out CBs weeks after EIP. Re: Columbia EIP 2015
I admit I was being a dick and apologize.
But, honestly, was just trying to illustrate a larger point: Just be yourself. Relax. You can't "study" for substantive questions. More often than not it'll be a substantive question about something on your resume, so you can get through that easily enough.
It's similar to any field where substantive questions are asked in job interviews. Employers typically aren't looking for "right" answers, they want to see how you think and then arrive at conclusions.

Seems like very few people (if any) have heard back from PW, STB, or Gibson? Is this unusual?

Re: Columbia EIP 2015
Is it ever appropriate to send a note to an interviewer who I haven't heard back from to sort of say that I really enjoyed the conversation and basically express continued interest in the firm?

I got a PW cb the other day. Nothing on stb or gdc though. I'm assuming dings on both at this point.

Unless they have requested something from you, or there was further conversation explicated during the interview, I'd say no.Anonymous User wrote:Is it ever appropriate to send a note to an interviewer who I haven't heard back from to sort of say that I really enjoyed the conversation and basically express continued interest in the firm?
