Just curious how people can get an offer on the spot. The interviewers don't need to send in their evaluations? Because one of them is a hiring partner?

I've never been on that side of it obviously, but I get the sense that the evaluation is not a super detailed form. So they all could be easily filled out by the time you meet with your last interviewer.

Generally they'll have you wait around after the final interview and then have you meet with one more person, who happens to be the hiring partner. That person will ask you one question as if to make it seem like they are still deciding and then will make the offer.Anonymous User wrote:Just curious how people can get an offer on the spot. S&C used to, but is not doing so this year, so do not be alarmed if you leave there without an offer. Cravath tries to, but if you leave without an offer that's not an indicator--it may mean (as was true for me) that the hiring partner hadn't had a chance to read the evaluations yet and will call you later. Those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head who have done it in the past.Anonymous User wrote:Which firms do on the spot offers?

Does anyone know what attire is appropriate for the Cravath cocktail reception tonight?

Willkie does it too but as with Cravath not getting one doesn't mean you won't get the offer later.

Interview attire at least for guys. The attorneys there dress in business formal and they will be coming straight from work.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know what attire is appropriate for the Cravath cocktail reception tonight?

Skadden and Gibson both do spot offers as well (or for Gibson, same day dinner offer). Cravath didn't do same day offers for its Saturday group last year, and waited till monday/tuesday. I'm surprised S&C isn't doing it this year, though.AdamDeMamp wrote:S&C used to, but is not doing so this year, so do not be alarmed if you leave there without an offer. Cravath typically will do same-day offers if the hiring partners are in the office that day. Otherwise, it's about a 1-2 day turnaround, so still very quick.

Is 4 callbacks bad for 16 interviews? Low Stone here and feeling like I blew it.

Callbacks have already went out for SB. It was posted in the last page, I believe.Anyone hear from Kaye Scholer?
Who has gotten an Akin callback? Since dings are going out, I have to imagine the callbacks were already released?

Re: Columbia EIP 2015
FWIW, you're at CLS, not a run of the mill law school. There are hundreds of employers looking to hire you. There are a lot of different avenues. Firms are still hirings. Maybe you will not find a firm as easily as your friends, but hang in there. Speak to OCS asap about what you can do and what options are available.Dinged at Akin and Morris Nichols DE. And, fyi, I'm someone hanging on by a thread at this point.

Re: Columbia EIP 2015
anyone heard from Chicago offices? it sounds like non-nyc moves more slowly, but wouldnt they let their top candidates know quickly, given the scheduling/traveling factors etc?
