Posting offers is uncalled for and should be banned.

It's at least somewhat useful as long as the CB date is included.

There is literally no value in posting offers.

There's at least as much value as there is in posting callbacks, isn't there?

Not as much because offers don't all go out at the same time like they do with callbacks.

But every other school's OCI thread posts offers, and people beg for info on whether offers went out.

tl;dr this thread makes me feel like a drug dealer sometimes.

I don't see the difference. Both are pretty valueless, I think. And yet here I am, compulsively checking this thread, so idk.

Significant difference. With CBs it can be assumed the interviewer is making all of his calls at the same time. With offers, not so much. Maybe one interviewee gets his offer the same day as his CB because no one is busy and can submit their evaluations or w/e. Maybe the other interviewee doesn't hear back for two or three days because things come up. What's worse is that at least with CBs you can pretend the poster wants to be helpful. With offers they're anonymously gloating, and there's no argument to cover that up.

Also, I do like to check this page because I think people post helpful questions, answers, and advice. I don't want to have to wade through humblebrags to figure out whether people recommend thanking their screener or w/e.

I agree with the "no posting offers" group. Please no more humble brags (see the guy who said he got 8/10 elite firm callbacks on 08/03).

If you're not getting a CB, you're not getting one regardless of whether people post ITT. I guess, the way I see it, it's most healthy to put interviews out of your mind immediately after they happen. I'm failing miserably at that personally. But, as someone who didn't get a CB from STB for example, my situation didn't change at all because someone posted "STB callback."

As far as people bragging, I say let them. Im happy for them, even though both offers so far are firms I'd like offers from.

This is all generally true, but I think you placing too much weight on offer timelines being random. Sure, something can come up for one of your interviewers, but if 3 people with CBs on a Monday get an offer by Tuesday and the fourth doesn't have one by Friday, things aren't looking great for that fourth one. At the end of the day, so much here is speculation that, on balance, I agree that posting offers causes a lot of stress, but that is part and parcel of this process.

Also I don't think it counts as bragging if you post as Anon. What sense does that make?

People with Skadden CBs: Did you all get invited to dinner on the night of your interview (for afternoon interviews)?

it's getting catty in here. I don't like the offer posting, but I agree - if a CB is attached to it there's some value with helping decipher timelines.

keep calm friends, we'll all get through this soon.

So is it fair to assume that smaller market firms with small summer associate classes are more likely to take longer with their callbacks?
