At what point is this acceptable? Silence from a lot of firms from last week.
This is never acceptable. This is why df and I said this thread is stupid. You start digging your grave with desperation.

I talked to career services about this, they said that after ~2 week mark it's alright to send a brief email to the recruiter inquiring about the status of your application (e.g. "Am I still being considered for the summer associate position?") and reiterating your interest in the firm

You can listen to career services if you want. It can do no help to you unless you actually have a decision to make bc of an expiring offer. Sometimes it is an autoding just for being overly involved and you can word things in a lot of ways that are off putting. Tread with caution.

lolololol i'm hoping this is a joke but if not, i have no sympathy. says something about your attention to detail
I'm not ashamed to say that this happened to me, and I still got 9 callbacks. The firms will find another way to contact you if they want you for a CB-- I got emails instead.

If you have an offer and can say I have an expiring offer and need to make a decision, sure. And preface that in the email. I have known people who were number 2 after the callback. Offer went out to number 1 and number 2 sent two follow up emails each after 2 weeks. Number 1 candidate rejected offer but original number 2 fell to number 3. Patience is a thing in law. You need to be patient and you can fuck up a lot of things trying to force it. My point is this - there is absolutely 0 situation where an email is going to move the needle in your favor. It probably won't move the needle in your disfavor but it can, so why do it.

Do you really need to know That badly?

can y'all stop being so goddamn thirsty??

maybe it's just me, but a thread full of people asking if anyone has heard back from xyz firm is not helpful and only adds to the stress. alternatively, consolidate your posts because i find it hard to believe that all of these anon posts that are posted within minutes of each other are from multiple individuals.
