yea it really is tough to know when you're behavior in social settings, or on an online forum, isn't appropriate in a professional setting.

TLS-SA "I retook the LSAT 5 times so I wouldn't have to go to that TTT (that partner went to). I got my 170 and ED'd to UVA. I really wanna work here at SRZ because it's the harvard of fund work. Like these Alan Edmonds? (is on a boat)"

Like exaggerating the point of someone's helpful anecdote given as advice in a conversation looking for advice on the very subject, just to make them sound like an asshole? Would that be inappropriate among colleagues?

Checking in.

Really mad I can't get the "offers are totally a sure thing!" idea out of my brain and would be very grateful if someone would smack me every week to invigorate the motivational neuroses I need to overcome my SPS work habits. TYIA

Firm is business casual. Yes / no for a jacket first day and same question about a tie. I have never worked in an office before haha.

My firm is business casual as well and they said I may just want to wear a sports coat the first day fwiw. Figured I'd do that and then could just leave it at the office.

Then dress business casual. If you want to be extra conservative, wear a jacket.

I mean do you want to wear a jacket? No one is really going to care either way.

Alright thanks. I guess the recurring theme here is to just not overthink things.

Almost? Only one no-offer in NYC in the past three years.

Really hoping it was hitting on a partner's wife or something controllable as opposed to work product issues.

Yea there are. I know of one that offered someone who legit sexually harassed a midlevel, who requested he be no offered because of the harassment.

I'll be at a v5. Do you think those are truly 100% offers or do they cold offer enough to retract that status ?

I think Skadden will ding the dingberries. But Cravath, DPW, and Sulcrom seem to be 100%.

Everything changes when you're at a v5. Everything.

2 no offers firm wide last year. 1 threw up on a partner apparently, so pretty close to 100%

Nah, firms who purged go back to 100% to make it seem safe.

I'm not planning on shaving my beard. Sent in my headshot for the firm's internal network with a beard, too.
