Did a research assignment on a discrete subject I took an elective in only to find out the rest of the world thinks my prof is completely wrong. My education is useless.

I made a couple of careless mistakes this afternoon on an assignment. I've been doing a lot of work for the same special counsel and he has been very pleased with my work thus far and has been giving me work outside of the official assigning procedure. This afternoon, I completely forgot to add one of the provisions to the markup we had just discussed in his office for 30 minutes. I also sent an email that was supposed to have an attachment and forgot the attachment. I rectified both mistakes within 5 minutes of hearing back from him. How big of a deal is this (or is it not something I should be worrying about)?

Already bored with this job and it's the freaking summer. Models and bottles, chill work, and a rotation through groups. I'm so fucked for real BL.

Is it frowned upon not to drink alcohol at evening events? I'm just not a big drinker (I know; that disqualifies me from the legal profession already) and I'm trying to stay in shape for a marathon.

Not a problem. It seems like most big law offices have at least a half dozen AAA Members/Mormons/Teetotalers who don't drink.

Can't remember the last time I was this tired. I wonder if it would be bad for me to shut my door and take a quick powernap.

Still the only summer at my business casual firm who doesn't wear a suit every day. I don't fucking understand these people.

People in biglaw openly admit to being in AA? Seems like it would frowned upon in such a preftigious environment.

Well, they don't put in on their firm bios, but there are plenty of AA members in big law. I would guess a higher % than most professions.

One of my tasks right now is essentially Facebook/LinkedIn stalking plaintiffs for deposition prep.

We have a presentation by a few partners next Monday. Heard they talk a lot about the firm's leverage. Can someone explain law firm leverage like I'm 5.

Is anyone else's firm making you use your own cell phone and school email for work stuff? Like communicating with clients, sending out contracts, etc? I don't have my own phone in my office and they haven't given me a firm email.

On the contrary, it was made explicitly clear to us that we should only be using our work emails and work phones for firm business. Then again, I haven't contacted any clients, aside from my pro bono client, lol.

That's very strange. Are you working at a big law office?
