Firm is delaying offers since there is a summer with two weeks left since they started later.
Do I have a right to be perturbed?

outing firms actually prevents no offers from even happening. i have been in the room when multiple partners have openly wished they could no offer a summer (who, to be fair, was just horrible in terms of everything), but recruiting wouldn't let them because it would be bad press.

Re: Summer Associate Class of 2015
I'm certain at least one guy in my class would have been no offered but for the firm not wanting to take the hit to the published offer rate. He wrote 1 memo the entire first assigning period (~4 weeks) and fucked it up royally. The partner was so displeased he wrote the summer a memo detailing how and why the memo was shit. Apparently dude's second half was marginally better but still nothing to write home about. Offer.5ky wrote:outing firms actually prevents no offers from even happening. i have been in the room when multiple partners have openly wished they could no offer a summer (who, to be fair, was just horrible in terms of everything), but recruiting wouldn't let them because it would be bad press.

Come on guys. Outing doesn't do anything but move more no offers to being cold offers which is, at best, marginally helpful, and at worst, continues this pattern of people thinking they're at a 100% firm until the surprise "welcome to Greenland" phone call.

Got new intel. Full retraction issued re: the summer you're thinking about. Apparently there were at least 2 NY no offers.Anonymous User wrote:NY was work product from what i heardJohn_Luther1989 wrote:Name the offices or GTFO. Summer at Paul Weiss. Offers went out the past week or so, and I at least haven't heard of any no offers/cold ofees. Huge class so obviously I haven't talked to everybody individually, but I would be surprised.

Paul Weiss literally gives offers to everyone. The decision is made basically before the summer starts that everyone will come back. My summer they told us over and over and over that no one should worry about offers because we were all getting them. The quote I remember was "you would have to commit a felony against a senior partner to not get an offer."Anonymous User wrote:Summer at Paul Weiss. Latham said the exact same thing. Firms exaggerate and even lie.Anonymous User wrote:Paul Weiss literally gives offers to everyone. PW anon summer here - I get that, and I remember that, and at least at mine, Karp said that it would probably even have to be "murder" and you may be alright with "second degree manslaughter" or something to that effect, but still.
But as the above poster said, firms (although it seems PW doesn't have a history of doing so) lie.

Re: Summer Associate Class of 2015
Yea, I knew they probably wouldn't no offer me. But especially with such a huge class which almost entirely seemed to be going for Lit, I was semi-concerned about a cold offer.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
