Uh, am I missing something regarding the AmeriCorps grant? It says my funding is available, but can I not just put it in my bank account? I'm going through the Education Expense's process, but it feels like my school is involved somehow?

Got an offer in the gov position I worked this summer... Only problem is its in DC and the salary is 40k -- in DC. Past two years the hire has been offered 45k -- which isn't much better but was the expectation when I applied.

It's great, but also.. I don't know what to do

Congratulations!
Any possibility of negotiating the pay? You already have the job, it's not like they are going to take it away. Maybe you could initiate the conversation by stating your concerns about the COL and asking the chances/timeline for promotions?
