Got an offer from a legal non-profit. Interviewed with a firm last week that I'm much more interested in, and I worry taking this non-profit job will foreclose future firm opportunities. I asked the firm about a timeline, and they said they won't be making decisions until early to mid-May. I don't think I can ask the non-profit to wait that long without them withdrawing the offer. Obviously it's not great, but could I take the non-profit job (with end of May start date), and then renege if I got the firm job? I don't care about burning a bridge with the non-profit, but it's in a mid-size market (think Detroit, Milwaukee, etc.), and I don't want to damage my reputation.
