Re: USAO Summer 2015
Thanks for the responses; this process has been going on 3 months and it's a bit frustrating. Pretty sure that most people don't include on their legal resumes their first job in high school...yet that's expected to be on there randomly for the federal background check. Any others reporting issues/requests for more info from their background checks?

Re: USAO Summer 2015
Is anyone else still waiting for word on the background check? I have not heard anything and the office won't reply to my emails. This is very frustrating.

^ at least you have a start date lolol
in all seriousness, the consensus is to wear a suit the first day and later conform to whatever the other workers wear

Re: USAO Summer 2015
I received clearance today. My paperwork was sent to D.C. at the end of April (sent it to my USAO in the beginning of March). Had to provide more info regarding past employment about two weeks ago. Hope this helps those who are still anxiously waiting for clearance/a start date for their USAO.

Re: USAO Summer 2015
For anyone who has actually started working...
Are you finding that the attorneys in the office view your position (not you personally, but the position generally) as a sort of inconvenience? Like when you go around asking for work the attorneys respond like "Oh I'm sure we can find something for you to do..." It's very frustrating. By no means was I expecting to do anything exciting/important, but I did expect there to be actual work for me to do (no matter how boring). Why else would they post a position on their official website asking for multiple law clerks for 8 weeks during the summer if there was really no work for them to do? It feels as if its a chore for the attorneys to find projects and I have often gotten the response "by the time I could find something and explain it to you, I could have just done it myself". Trying to find out if this is just my office.
In no way am I frustrated with the people themselves. They are all lovely and fun to talk/listen to. I'm just upset the program is not more organized.
