Summer associate relocation costs
Do firms tend to cover (either 1L or 2L) summer associate relocation costs? These costs include round-trip airfare, shipping boxes, car rental, public transportation, and assistance in finding housing.

Re: Summer associate relocation costs
There's an ATL article covering big law fringe benefits floating out there. The short answer is that it depends on the firm, but many cover some sort of relocation cost, varying based on the firm. If you are headed somewhere, contact the firm's recruiting staff and I'm sure they will help you.Anonymous User wrote:Do firms tend to cover (either 1L or 2L) summer associate relocation costs? I think round trip flights to the office location are standard. Idk about shipping boxes, that's not the first triviality I'd think to ask my future employer about. I've also heard of salary advances for other incidental expenses.

My summer firm in LA paid for my monthly bus/metro pass after I asked for it and told them I would not be using their parking garage. YMMV.

NY V10 - firm covers closing costs on a new home or apartment broker costs for associates looking to rent; salary advance available if you want it.
ETA: Apologies, I thought you were asking about permanent relocation costs. I don't think my firm pays for SA relocation costs.
