Cheat on firm during CB down time?
Going on a Weekend CB soon. There will be ~5 hours of business hours down time between my arrival and the first CB activity with the CB firm. This is in a secondary city. There's another, less selective firm that I'm a bit more interested in in the same town. I have a CB scheduled for them on the back end of next week.
Is this an opportunity to hustle? Could I, like, drop off donuts to the recreuiters and say I'm excited to visit for real next week or something?
Really scared of striking out, so I'm trying not to miss any opportunities.

In the event that you were being serious and not trying to tell a joke, this is a terrible idea.Anonymous User wrote:Going on a Weekend CB soon. omg. seriously? it's shit like this that reminds me how weird law students can be sometimes. I really do think pple mess up their chances with good firms they have a shot at by doing shit like this. The only thing that would be appropriate @ this time is to maybe email recruiting and say you'd really appreciate it if you could meet for coffee with an attorney from X group prior to your formal visit to learn more about the firm. Or,even better, reach out to pple you know at the firm and see if they want to grab coffee during your break. Not sure how this impacts the cost sharing for NALP stuff...but ya, no donuts.

There is literally no daylight between joke posts and shit that law students actually might say.

I don't think it was a joke, so yeah don't do that.
The above idea about reaching out for coffee seems ok though.

Re: Cheat on firm during CB down time?
A partner at Fried Frank told me they lateraled to a new market when he met his fiance's family by emailing 10 firms the Friday before saying he'd be in town, and set up 8 interviews over 2 days. This was pre-2008, but could work in mass mails. Otherwise, walking into a law firm unannounced with $10 of donuts? Bro, they're more likely to think you didn't take your meds.
