Have heard of no offers from CBs last Wed or later. Seems weird given how many same day and next day offers I've heard coming from STB.

Yeah, I'm not sure what happened -- I thought the CB went fine (some good conversations, no disasters), but either they were just really lukewarm about me (which is entirely possible, I admit) or their class is filling up and they're becoming more selective...?

Edit: I'm the dinged anon from above

I am not sure what happened either. I have encountered similar situations twice. Good conversations, some partners even mentioned becoming my mentors during the interview and then get rejected out of blue. But in those two cases, the firms' classes are quite small. Hopefully STB still has enough seats to offer.

Sure, STB has a huge class and I'm sure that there are many spots available. (And good luck to those still waiting!)

FWIW, I have a heavily public interest background, which may have been a strike against me.

Checked the mail today. Two letters: junk mail on top and what looked like a rejection letter underneath. Slid the junk mail down enough to see NYC return address but no name. Then I see "Sullivan and Cromwell" bleeding through the envelope. Never been so relieved to be dinged.

I think it's probably a lost cause for those of us who interviewed on the 28th.

Did they seriously fill up? Seems weird that none of us would have gotten an offer. I still haven't been dinged, so holding out hope.

got the rejection letter today. Dated as last Thursday, the next day of my interview. Why? Good conversations, no disasters, no weirdness, but got rejected. Really like the firm

class almost filled + outstanding offers = they can be even more selective?

Anyone know what the turnaround time is for Houston (or what day they make offers)?

I will say this, with inside information -- there are a *ton* of STB offers currently outstanding, but relatively few acceptances as of yet. That's typical for this period--offer dinners and second looks are currently taking place--but it's also a time at which a lot of marginal candidates are being held back to see what the yield looks like. If STB starts to get 33% yield, then they're probably all but done giving offers except for a few to the late-interviewing schools (Chicago, Stanford). But, if they get more like a 20% yield, they'll start giving offers to a lot of people still dangling. They just had their NYU and Columbia offer dinners last week, and their Harvard offer dinner is tonight (plus other offer dinners ongoing at smaller schools). The yield picture will be much clearer by the end of the week, and if movement is going to come for those dangling, it will be late this week or early next week.

Just out of curiosity, if ppl start declining offers, would STB even consider those already dinged? Heard of some weird rumors about someone gets an offer weeks after receiving a rejection letter. I know I sound pathetic, but really into the firm
