Bidding strategy

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Jun 08, 2014 9:23 pm

As I begin to compile a preliminary bid list for my T14's OCI this fall, I'm heavily referring to the firm GPA profiles that my school provides to us. However for many firms there is no GPA data available. I imagine that many schools don't even provide GPA profiles for firms that are coming to OCI. So how should I determine whether my GPA allows me to be competitive for these firms? Can anyone provide insight into bidding strategy for this scenario?

The way I'm doing it is just doing some research on TLS or asking career services if they have info on what GPAs they have taken in the past (the latter is a priority if your career services does this). Otherwise, it is difficult to tell (although if its a V10 firm you can expect a higher GPA of course).

You use other resources. Completely depends on what school you are at, but in general the firms that care more about grades (from good schools) are well known here on TLS, in your OCS, by your rising 3L contacts, etc, and the rest can be assumed to care much less (though still preferring median or above).

The worse of a school you go to, the more you should just assume all firms care about grades and bid moreso based on which firms have more SAs and which firms historically have hired more from your school.
