So I'm going BigLaw and while I don't for a second think I'll make partner, I want to make sure I know how the game is played so I can make sure I take advantage of opportunities in the future.
How does bringing in business work at a firm? Say I've got a friend who is in-house at some Fortune 500 and he calls me up and says, "I want your firm to handle this project." How do I translate that into something that reflects well on me? I've heard the term "origination" in passing - can someone explain that? I'll take absolutely any advice on the mechanics of getting credit for work that I can.
And I also anticipate a healthy amount of sarcastic replies. So go at it.
