Have an SA position at a firm in DC for this upcoming summer. After I graduate, I plan to clerk for two years. Due to changed circumstances, I would like to work at a firm in NYC long term. My question: when should I start applying to NYC firms?
My guess is that I would apply during my second clerkship, but I could be wrong. Even if I'm right, I'm not sure how far out I should start applying. Any input is appreciated.
What if I don't want to work where I summer? Forum

I'm currently in the second year of a two-year clerkship. For firms, you should start applying no earlier than January of the year your clerkship ends. Most firms want applications from current clerks sometime between January and April.Anonymous User wrote:Have an SA position at a firm in DC for this upcoming summer. Some NY firms will let you summer there after 3L before your clerkship starts.
