1L at median in a locally respected TT. What now?
Like it says, 1L at median at a locally respected TT.
It's a saturated market.
I could be losing a 3/4 scholly.
Ride it out? Cut my losses at the end of the semester if scholly doesn't renew? Are people getting jobs from middle of the pack? Help!

If you lose your scholarship, drop out.Anonymous User wrote:Like it says, 1L at median at a locally respected TT.

Drop out.
This is objectively the best decision. You are most likely not going to get ANY job, much less a good one, and especially not one that could pay back any sizeable debt.

You're anon. Give us more info. Which school? What are your long term goals? What legal contacts do you have? We'll probably say dropout, but let's see if there's anything worth staying for.

you don't have to necessarily drop out, but if you lose your scholarship it might be a good idea.
networking and working harder your final 2 yrs will be more important to ensure you're employed. it's still possible to get a good job, but you'll have to work for it. most TT well respected local schools place at least 50% so if you're ~median you'll have to make sure you get a job via relevant externships, work experience, and networking.

Any law school that has 50% of greater JD-required employment (graduation or +9 months, depending on which you prefer), then people are definitely getting jobs from middle of the pack or lower. There are even some TT with employment #s at 9 months suggesting some people from the lower 33% are getting JD-required jobs. It depends on your school, background, experience, etc. With the right background, experience, and networking, almost anyone can get employed at median. It may be at a small firm though.Anonymous User wrote: Are people getting jobs from middle of the pack? Help!

As a TT student at the top of the class, if you are median, drop out unless you would be happy with literally ANY legal job whatsoever, even if it pays minimum wage.
The legal market is really tough and students with good-solid grades are having it tough. If you lose your scholly it is a no-brainer.

It depends on what school.
If American U, yea, drop out forsure, LST shows 38% get jobs upon graduation.
If Loyola LA or Pepperdine, still drop out. I had a friend who graduated top 20% at Loyola LA this past summer still got no job and this guy networks since 1L year.
If Cordozo, tough call, LST shows 53% get jobs upon graduation, you may land a legal job at median.
Conclusion: I'd still drop out.
