Application status still hasn't changed, and still no email. I'm holding out hope.

Poster with the interview here, not sure if this helps or not. I have applied twice and my application status is still "received." It never changed to referred. However, my experience with federal hr tells me that you shouldn't read into your status on USAjobs.

Wow, my hat is off to you! I have applied 3 (maybe 4?) times. I was about to give up but perhaps this is the normal (frustrating) process?Anonymous User wrote:Eight times, including the most recent application.Anonymous User wrote:How many times have you applied?
I have 3 friends with little to no experience who have been given interviews, and 2 have been hired (the 3rd probably will be). Unsure what the USPTO is looking for at this point. Even had people who work there review my resume and responses. Can you be over qualified for this job?

It seems to run the gamut as to what they are looking for in candidates. They seem to hire people fresh out of law school, those with little experience and also those who have several years of experience. I know several people working there and they can't figure it out either. My experience isn't in trademark specifically, so perhaps that's why I'm being overlooked. I am searching for volunteer opportunities, but so far I've found nothing that doesn't require you to still be in law school.Anonymous User wrote:Wow, my hat is off to you! Volunteering certainly couldn't hurt but like you said, they are hiring people without any experience whatsoever (and I believe the posting says that they are not concerned about actual trademark experience?). I'm going to continue applying for other federal jobs, and I hope you are doing the same...

Re: Attorney Advisor (Trademark Examining Attorney) for USPTO
This thread has been helpful to me, so I thought I would post some info that might be helpful to others.
First time applicant, supplied my materials sometime shortly before the closing on 7/8/2016. Received written statement request on 7/26/2016. Received interview invitation on 8/15/2016, with interviews taking place from 8/23-9/22.
I am a current federal employee. A source I consider credible informed me that this hiring announcement is for 22 positions for a new law office, with a start date of 10/31/16.

22? What happened to the 60-ish number a couple pages back?

Oh, I am. I'm thankful that I'm currently employed because that's not going so great either. I don't know what to do. I've yet to find volunteer opportunities that don't require you to be in law school working with a clinic or a trademark attorney with years of experience.Anonymous User wrote:Volunteering certainly couldn't hurt but like you said, they are hiring people without any experience whatsoever (and I believe the posting says that they are not concerned about actual trademark experience?). 22 seems small, especially considering how long the interview window is. It is possible that 22 people would be used to make a new section while the rest would be used to fill in other spots.Anonymous User wrote:22? What happened to the 60-ish number a couple pages back?
For those of you who got interview requests, what was the interview date they gave you? In the last round it seems like people were still getting interview requests well into the interview period. The only thing keeping my hope alive is the thought that they will be rolling out interview requests based on the date of the interview they assign. The government likes to be really fair so they probably would not give one person notice a week before while they gave someone else notice a month before.

So this new report could significantly change the oversight you receive from superiors at the PTO

Some people have already had interviews and others have received "not selected" emails. Is anyone else still getting radio silence?

Does anyone know when the deadline for applications is? I only see USAJOB posting for Trademark Attorney and it makes it seem like you need a lot of prior experience. Thanks!
