Surprised by first semester grades, need 1L job hunt advice.

I did something right with my exams and ended up somewhere in the top 5% at one of CCN. Obviously not a bad problem to have but I was expecting to be somewhere below median, and planned my job search accordingly so now I'm behind in the SA hunt. I've sent out a bunch of applications to government, PI, and corporate gigs. In the last week I've sent out 30 targeted cover letters to firms that are hiring 1Ls in NYC.

What is my next move? I know this is really late in the game, but I figure I should be at least competitive for an SA position. I have credible ties to NYC, DC, Boston, and probably a mid-atlantic secondary market. Is my best move to write more targeted cover letters, but realistically no more than 40 or so by Monday next week? Or would I be better served doing something like Resume Launchpad, which I could do by Weds at the latest, and spamming my resume and transcript out to as many firms as possible in those markets?

Similar question - Expected to be around median to top third at a T20 and ended up top 10% but I hadn't done much job stuff anyway. Is it worth applying to NALP firms that hire 1L's where my school is, when they say that they wanted apps 12/1 or close to it?

I bid on 1L OCI stuff, but the chances of grabbing something from that are low.

OP I was in a similar position and went back to my secondary market. That might be your best bet, although you may struggle to sell your desire to return and stay there over the long haul.

I'm sorry I can't give much more advice other than to temper your expectations and have a fall-back plan. 1L SAs in major markets, absent some sort of diversity, are hard to get no matter what your grades are.
