How Many Get Callbacks

Post by Murphy1022 » Fri Dec 20, 2013 8:33 pm

I interviewed for a first year associate position at a firm and got offered a callback. Does anyone know generally how many applicants firms will interview for a position like this and then how many are usually offered a callback?

Somewhere between 50-200% more people than they are planning on hiring.

As few as like a 2:1 ratio of CB to hired students, as many as 15:1 there is no real norm. Whoever they offer will almost certainly accept, so plan for the worst and hope for the best. Your odds are not good. Of course several hundred 1Ls get 1L SAs every year despite not good odds so there's that.

I think most people would say a 15:1 shot at a job is pretty good compared to starting out with hundreds of other applicants. I'll yake that any day. And someone has to get the job...

Absolutely, just don't stop applying to other things and as the end of January approaches, considering taking another opportunity if it is something that interests you since your odds will decrease by the day around that point.
