It seems last year those whose references were contacted got offers eventually and those whose did not, did not end up with offers. After the deadline passes tomorrow, I think we will see more offers extended.

Glad to know I'm not floating in this boat alone. Makes me feel better.

I hope I'm not alone here, but to those of you who have received offers and had references contacted, as someone who has neither, I would rather have more information than less regarding what you know. I appreciate that you may not want to rub it in our faces, but I'd rather be disappointed sooner rather than later! And congrats to those of you who have received offers :D

I'm the anon who posted that I was going crazy, but I totally agree! I would definitely like to know. It still provides us with information-- what regions are giving offers, whether or not people are accepting the offers, etc.

Congrats to those who have received offers already, and good luck to all!

EOIR doesn't really do anything by region. If it's happening, it's happening everywhere, and it's coming out of Falls Church.

I just got word from one of my references that she was required to provide a full letter of recommendation by COB tomorrow and that offers should follow soon thereafter. Good luck everyone! Fingers crossed!

Congrats! Just a quick question to all-- is this the typical way references were asked to speak about you? I was not under the impression that they needed to write letters of recommendations, and would love to know if anyone has any idea if that's how it's always been done.

Thanks!

Ok - just got an offer yesterday (not one of the locations I really wanted) and accepted this morning. Here's what I know about references. I called my references to see if they had been contacted. They were contacted by email. Two of them had to fill out a questionnaire and email it back. One said she talked to someone and had like a 10 minute conversation. All three said they received an acknowledgement of receipt after either sending in the questionnaire or having a conversation. Hope this helps. I am going to take a break from the forum for a while - I must have checked this thing more than a 1000 times during this process. Good luck everyone - I know offers are still rolling out. My advice - talk to your references and make sure they get what needs to be done taken care of. My offer came the morning after all my references received the verification of receipt contact from the requester.

Got an offer call this afternoon and accepted right away! My references had been checked on January 2 (at least one was a phone conversation, not sure about the other two).

To help keep things straight, I'm going to label this Offer #3/Acceptance #2 (unless I missed any?). I was placed in the Midwest in my first choice city (not Chicago, which I think is probably the most popular Midwest choice).

Congrats! I know two of my references have responded, but don't know about my third. At least we know offers are finally coming out...

My references were contacted and replied between December 29 and January 2. I guess I must be an alternate.

I was under the impression, along with a few others, that your references only got contacted if you were getting an offer, and that alternates not getting offers did not have their references contacted

It has been more than 10 days since the last offer on the board, things are getting grim.

Received an offer on the 13th for a city in the midwest. Currently waiting to hear back from their HR dept. regarding my starting grade/step before making a decision.
