I need some advice from the people seeking Ohio on here.

Is there any reason to take a mid size firm like Frost or Porter Wright over JD Cleveland? Would it be a bad career move?

Any thoughts would help.

I think it depends on your circumstances and what you're looking for in a firm. I think for the vast majority, JD it TCR. However, if you have a family or something and want to put in less hours, or if you don't want to change firms in 4 years, then maybe JD isn't the right choice.

Thanks for the advice. I'm deciding between a FBTish firm that focuses on training, lifestyle, and developing into partner vs JD in Ohio which may be better for a law career.

Either decision is like shooting yourself in the foot.

My understanding is that Bricker won't be until the end of the month. No rolling offers and they are still interviewing candidates.

Speaking of Porter Wright, does anyone have any idea what their hiring timeline is or how many people they are taking?

Anybody know anything about Brouse McDowell in Cleveland? Had a screener and I really liked them.

What did you think? Currently weighing it with other firms more career-oriented in Ohio.

Only hometown firm I accepted an interview with because it would be the only one to sway me to come back. I am weighing Jones Day with big firms from the market where my school is located.

I think it's a great firm. Opportunities seem promising. For me it's going to come down to where I want to live.

Awesome! Since you're from Cleveland, do you know how long the average stay is at Jones? 5-7 years? Trying to decide if it's worth the relocation.

I worked as a paralegal in Cleveland prior to going to law school and the rumors around the legal community were that there was really bad turnover. I'm not sure if that's still an issue now but it was before. Of course, when I asked about those things during my interview, I was told that it wasn't like that at all but no one is going to say "don't come here, it's a sweat shop". That said, historically, people burned out quickly. The running joke around my firm and others during that time was "Jones Day...and Night".

I don't think Thompson Hine Cincy has sent out any cbs yet.

Are there any offers out for Taft Cincy yet?

Also, Thompson Hine Columbus is screening this week with callbacks for next week.

Thompson in Cincy has sent some callbacks but (I think) are doing them on a rolling basis over a couple of weeks. Taft in Cincy has given out offers.

Just wondering, did you go to the big FBT callback day on September 11th? Also, do you live in Cincinnati or nearby--I'm asking because I'm curious how long ago that FBT may have sent the letter? Thx

Also, has anybody heard anything (screener, callback, or offer) from Dinsmore Cincinnati?
