is anyone still thinking of accepting in light of this? This seems like a pretty alarming sign that some people will be getting no offered

I too am in the same boat but I think it's wise to take their advice & go somewhere else. Assuming you have another offer on the table.

I mean obviously it's wise to go somewhere else at this point. But seriously I know of at least 7 people that they called. it makes me wonder how many offers they gave out. Does this happen to them every year? so ridiculous and bad form.

Flat out crazy. How long have you guys been sitting on these offers?

Posted this in another thread but I'll put it here too:

I have a bit of inside information - they are very likely not over capacity based on # of acceptances this round and average class sizes of previous summers. The rate of acceptances is just too high for the # of offers outstanding. Sometimes this happens - happened to another firm I got an offer from when I was doing OCI and that firm handled it in the same way (calling everyone up and telling them.) Recruiting isn't an exact science.

It might be a good idea to accept elsewhere (as the firm has advised it sounds like) but from the number of people I've heard that have accepted the class is likely not full yet. It's just early for them in the season to have this many acceptances. Like I said before, this shit happens. It's not "terrifying", calm down. If you accept you're not going to get no-offered next summer. If you are particularly anxious there are many nice and helpful people in KBTF recruiting that would be glad to give you more information and help you out.

I know this is a stressful time but try to calm down about this. It would be a total shock people got no offered next summer based on this. Everyone is historically used to all summers getting offers and it's not a huge firm. If KBTF is your first choice talk to recruiting and let them know. I'm sure things will end up fine.

Haha, I can't speak to knowing anything "normal" about firm recruiting (nor can anyone else on this forum - ok well some people can) but this exact shit happened at a different firm within the last couple years. They called everyone (inc. me), explained the situation, told people with other offers to consider taking them. It's an awkward situation that comes from unfortunate circumstances but it's happened before and will happen again. Firms do the best they can but no one can predict the future with 100% accuracy.

Once again, I know this sucks and I would definitely pursue other options if available. Just gotta roll with the punches during interviewing season.

ETA: I also know people at the firm this happened to prior that accepted after that message was dispersed AND summered there AND got offers along with the rest of their class (100% rate). So take that FWIW.

Unless you're actually in recruiting at Kasowitz, there's really no reason for you to be posting in multiple Kasowitz threads that this is anything other than ridiculous.

That message is clearly from a recruiter there. I had a friend who got called and don't they were actually over capacity and if she had an offer elsewhere to take it.

Perhaps she should call one of the many "nice and helpful people in KBTF recruiting." Or perhaps she should just "try to calm down."

Does NALP ever do anything about this? I hope some career services depts will.

NALP are guidelines, not rules. It's like international law: everyone knows what the rules should be, but the only ways to enforce it are at least not pretty and often worse than just shaking your head and letting things go.
