No. But curious how you envision the wording of something like this.

OP about school ranking: Its a serious question because most individuals have no idea my school is ranked well (Top 30). I would put it next to the school name on my resume (School Name) - 2015 USNR #XX. Seems very unprofessional but I also don't want to be passing up opportunities at possible jobs because they think my school is trash. Locally the firms know but outside the local market it seems that few individuals know the schools ranking. I have sent almost all of my MM apps anyways so I guess its not an important issue.

When you say individuals have no idea where your school ranks, are these people whose job it is is to recruit students from law schools? or non law school friends?

There's literally no way you could do that and have it come off well IMO

OP: Law Students from other schools, Attorneys in other markets, and non-law school people. Also the lack of firms coming to OCI I feel is also indicative.

I agree, I don't think there is anyways to tactfully put the schools ranking into an application without rubbing most attorneys the wrong way.

If you have to tell employers what your school's rank is, they already don't care.

The rank isn't going to matter. It's not like San Francisco firms are going to choose someone from Alabama (22nd) over someone from UC Hastings (59th) just because Alabama is higher ranked.

Im not a recruiter, so I have no idea. But as a person, this sounds really weird to do, and really unprofessional. Maybe ask this in the Ask a Senior Associate/OCI Interviewer thread, but I would lean towards Zuck's response. Posting rank on your resume, if not your personal rank, but your actual schools, does NOT seem like a good idea.

I kind of feel that if no one knows that your school is good, it might not be all that good, no matter where it's ranked. If the markets where you are applying don't recognize it, one must wonder why you chose that school in the first place.

I just got a straight to callback. Just get them out people. It really isn't too difficult and is well worth it

You guys getting this with targeted letters? I usually just have one line about their biggest practice areas that I am also interested in. Safe to eliminate this, or should I keep it the same/expand it?

I've gotten CB's with minimally targeted letters. Just I'm interested in them because X + Y practice areas and maybe a half a sentence about how i like their free-market system or whatever they have.

I had almost zero targeting in the letter I got a callback with so not sure how necessary. It can't hurt but it was hindering the speed I was getting them out so I scratched it after a few of the top firms.

How were your grades? I feel like Top 25% mass mailing is different then bottom 25%. I haven't gotten any bites yet.

Top third at a T6 so probably not applicable to a lot of people. Granted, I'm a k-jd and have an incredibly average (below average even?) resume.

Is anyone able to access Resume Launchpad? I keep getting a 404. I'm using NALP as well as others at the moment to add firms to my spreadlist.

if I didn't get a screener with a firm through preselect only OCI, but want to reapply, should I say in my cover letter that while I didn't get the screener I'm still interested in the firm? or should I just treat it as though it's a brand new application?

(I've seen this answered for people who didn't get screeners through lottery OCIs, but I haven't seen it answered for 100% preselect ones)

For multi-office firms, is it a good idea to start with the most insular offices that you have ties to and wait for the ding/silence before applying to majors? Or is this just a waste of time?

The most risk-averse thing to do is to apply to the main office where the most hiring occurs. Lots of satellites located in insular offices don't even have summer programs, or they might hire a few people. Also, you generally shouldn't be prioritizing applications based on how insular the markets are. That said, if you really want St. Louis (for example), then you should probably just apply to the home offices of the St. Louis-based firms. But that won't really cut out any major NYC firms from your list.
