For asking for an update after an interview that occurred two weeks ago should I put:

Subject Header: Follow-up Pertaining to Interview on [insert date]?

Then in the body: ask them for an update and tell them that I will be in town this upcoming weekend?

I got started on my mass mail campaign a three weeks ago. Is it time to send a follow up e-mail?

What are your experiences with straight to cb from mass mail? I felt like a cb I recently had went well and now they want me to do a phone interview with just one person. I know that this isn't a bad thing, but any idea if this means I'm in the maybe pile or if this is more like an abbreviated 2nd round since the cb was 1st round (or neither)?

it may be that they require every candidate to meet the hiring partner and they weren't available that day

yes, tell them you will be in the area and if they give you an interview pay for the travel.

Well, are these biglaw? Most of them are pretty much done, so following up won't hurt. Give a reason to be in their city. Say you'll be there. If they give you an interview, find a way to get there.

I need advice in a hurry.
I'm going to X for a funeral tomorrow. I had mass mailed two firms in said market that I've not heard back from. I want to say I'm in town but don't want to appear like a fuckup for not scheduling this sooner. Can I mention the funeral?
This is literally for tomorrow. I'm arriving at 9:30 am, and flying home at 5 am the next day.
Here's my draft. Please advise.

Dear Ms. X,

I'm contacting you to follow up in my application to X law firm. I know it's a bit last minute, but I will be in town tomorrow and will be available until 1:00. If you would like to schedule an interview please e-mail me or call me at 111-555-6666

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Should I say I'm passing through?
I'm concerned the short notice will be off putting. But then, this late in the game...

They don't need to know why you're in town. What's the alternative here? Not telling them you're there? Either e-mail and if you don't hear, call.

They are all mid size firms in my large city.

Does anyone know if callbacks are more likely to lead to offers if the screener was with the hiring partner?

I doubt it. I have heard that getting CBs this late is probably fairly high yield due to fewer stellar applicants being available.

Is it normal for firms to send out, "Are you still looking?" emails at this stage? Why not just offer a screener if that's where it's going? Are there strange NALP reqs on initial screeners?

Just got an interview with a mid-sized firm (in a small market) from mass mailing follow up. Not my target market but it's something (and somewhere I have a shot of going to my target market from eventually)!

Keep on going, guys!

Was this a firm you interviewed with at OCI that never got back to you? What is the story on this?

Also, I started my mass mail campaign three weeks ago. When should I send my follow up e-mail and what should it say. (I go to school in the city where I applied).

Just got an offer from a mid size (40 attorneys) firm through mass mailing. The offer rate after the summer is not good but it is so much better than nothing. I will continue to mass-mail and encourage others to not give up.

Ditto.

OCSs inexplicably shit on massmailing, but if there's even a chance, wouldn't you want to have done it?
