I wouldn't stop with the online form though if you really cared about the place. Start up the chain after you've been referred there and havent heard back. If you catch the interest of a partner and they want you to be screened, that's all that will matter.

Well, for example, I didn't quite research Covington's grade cut-off until after I had materials set up and and email to their recruiting manager scheduled to send off. I got so lost in sending out a ton of letters that I forgot to see if the firm is actually looking to people like me as candidates.

I'm more concerned (out of my paranoia) that I'll send my letter to Covington or Wachtell and they'll end up spreading the word that this d-bag is mass-mailing, do not hire and my mugshot appears as a print-out under the desks of every secretary in America.

Grade range?
School ranking?
Who did you send to?
Did you personalize the addresses/names on the letters?
Any lawcruit forms?
Did you apply to markets that you have no connection to?

Responding to you:

I started early July, did followups last week.
Pretty much any market I had ties to: SF, LA, NYC, DC, Chicago other satellite offices as well (Raleigh, for example).
Lots of confirmations (not nearly all) but radio silence since.
I'm median at a school where it would give me away if I posted which it was. Not a T14 (and this is probably the important part).
Sent to recruiters, followed up with partners recently.
I would say a dozen or so lawcruit firms.
And only applied to two markets that I didn't have ties to (Dallas/Austin).
Very afraid of striking out so hence my intense mailing.

I know massmail takes zero effort, it's better to mail than not and all that but still... don't hold your breath for getting DC when you whiffed on NYC.
