At Columbia in 2011 they had 20 callbacks and gave 9 of them offers. Only 2 accepted.

Not sure if that helps at all, but it's something.

Is there any good way of finding out information like this about other offices/firms?

Did a callback there last year and had the same question. I want to say it's on the low side. maybe 40% of those they callback get offers. Not sure why they callback sooo many people, but I do recall them bragging about the call backs at white & case being unusual in that they usually ask substantive questions and they "grade" your writing sample.

2 of the 4 people I met with discussed my writing sample.

Substantive meaning more than just a personality type of interview where they just want to know you and see if you would fit in. They asked me questions to gauge my legal reasoning/analysis I suppose. Wanted me to walk them through a legal issue or problem. Maybe something on your resume, something you encountered over the summer or from your writing sample. Not difficult but still could throw your game if you are not prepared.

Did white and case ask for the writing sample to be emailed. Sorry I have an NYC callback and can't find the email if the writing sample should be emailed or just brought with.

To be honest this was over a year ago so I don't remember all the details. I know I submitted it electronically but I always bring a copy of all my materials to interviews, just in case. I would email the recruiter. But it seems odd because I do remember them saying they have a lrw teacher on staff more or less who grades them, so it would seem odd for you to not have to submit one.
