DB v. Ballard. Glad to have the option. General thoughts or advice? Liked both places. Want to do corporate.

That's tough. Congrats btw. Mind sharing when you did CB/got offer for both??Anonymous User wrote:DB v. Ballard. Glad to have the option. General thoughts or advice? Liked both places. Want to do corporate.
I've heard of people who are trying to decide between firms asking to come back in and meet some more attorneys. Granted, you probably won't get a true picture of what life would be like working there since they'll be trying to impress you. But it might help.
DB pays a little more, but it's so little a difference that I can't imagine that would sway you one way or the other. I think their training program is awesome (and I know for sure that they're not paying the lower rate during training anymore starting this year). It seems like Ballard gives associates significant responsibility early on, which is either something you want or not--depends on your personality I guess. I'm not sure what level of responsibility young DB associates get. I don't really know enough about the corporate practice at either to make a comparison, but you can probably get a better idea from career services/alums than TLS posters. Honestly I think both are great firms and personally those two would probably be the toughest to decide between in Philly. Good luck!

That's just wrong information. Duane and Morgan Lewis may have the same first year base salary, but the MLB raises and bonuses are going to be fatter.Anonymous User wrote:
Duane and MLB pay the same, Drinker pays less and you have an even lower salary during training. Check NALP if that's something that would affect your choice.

I have a CB coming up with one of the major Philly firms. I have some ties to Philly (family and a brief period living in the city). There's also the possibility that my fiance will be moving to the area for work. I'm a woman - should I bring him up if asked about ties, or should I keep him out of the conversation?

Absolutely IMO. I'd phrase it like its more of a certainty though (or just flat-out say that he will be).Anonymous User wrote:I have a CB coming up with one of the major Philly firms. Rejected from Cozen today via letter 1 week after my CB.
I'm pretty sure they're done interviewing.

seemed like YCST was only taking a few summers and they weremoving a bit slower i think the turnaround is quicker for Potter, RLF, and MNATAnonymous User wrote:When did you do your CBs? It's not at all unusual for RLF and Potter to take a couple weeks.
