Jones Day Non-DC/NYC
Anyone willing to take a PM over some questions about Jones Day secondary markets (preferably PA, OH, IL)?

I don't have anything to offer, but Chicago is not a secondary market. Jones Day Cleveland is one of their largest office probably right after DC and NY, so not sure if you can consider it a secondary market because Jones Day is technically based in Cleveland. Pittsburg and Columbas, sure.

You can't PM someone who posts anonymously, friend.

Can't we just talk about it vaguely for all to see?

Especially in Cleveland, which is apparently a primary market because JD is HQ'd there. Guess the same applies to Miami because of GT.

Compensation after first year is confidential. Look at the website.

Thanks for the reply. I knew compensation was confidential; I suppose I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what rough yearly increases might be.

It's really not talked about. It's a cultural thing to avoid worrying about it. If you're a believer then you chose JD b/c you cared more about the culture/collegiality than being lockstep.

Re: Jones Day Non-DC/NYC
For what its worth, the few people who generally discussed salary with me all seemed to indicate that it generally follows market rate for most people. If it really lagged for that many people, its not like people wouldn't realize it. But I agree that, for those who choose Jones Day, it is because the team-based culture and loyalty of the firm are invaluable, and more than outweigh the slight bit of uncertainty associated with black box compensation.
