relevance of OCI Cover Letter once you have the interview

Wondering if firms/interviewers hold onto cover letters going into OCI. I submitted through symplicity and got a preselect, but taking a peek at the cover letter I uploaded shows a glaring typo - the wrong firm name in my opening sentence (and it's of a competitor in an insular secondary market  ).

Do I have a shot still? Do interviewers/firms review the cover letter once they have given out an OCI interview?

Lol yes. At every one of my interviews the person had a folder with my materials, including cover letter, in it. All of them whipped out my cover letter, along with my resume, and asked me questions about things in it.

See if you can send them an "updated" letter with the correct firm name in it. Email it or fax it to the recruiting person.

Exact same issue (not same typo but almost as bad). i've been going back and forth on whether I should email them to try and update. also, it was my number one bid firm. ugh.

Of course email them to update. If it's early enough in the process it's likely that only the recruiting coordinator has seen your cover letter with the typo. Don't let the fudged up cover letter make it to the interviewer's hands where he/she can grill you on it. Email the recruiting person and let them know that you would like to update your cover letter and send it to them. Don't even tell them what you want to change.

This. Made a goof on my resume. Before bids were returned, I emailed an "updated" one and there wasn't an issue.

OP here. I did a search on this and a lot of people have said in the past to just try and let it slip by (and several reported getting through interviews OK). Rationale being they might auto-ding whereas if you had kept silent no one may have even read the CL.

But I think in my egregious case I might have to shoot that email to recruiting. Interview is in 2 weeks and obviously the bid is in and locked into symplicity. But...worried about that auto-ding. Ah...
