So anyone know what the deal is with the JW reception? Talked to someone who said (s)he was going to JW after. Should I assume ding? Felt like that was maybe my best interview today.

I did not get invited to it. I believe people got invited during the screener.

Oh, I thought they were just inviting everyone who had a screener with them to the reception.

On another note, anyone know what the deal was with the Fulbright reception tonight? I heard that certain people were getting invited to a dinner. I wasn't invited. :(

Any word on dinners or receptions?
Receptions:

This is just what I've heard.

Tonight - TK (I think anyone who did a screener was invited)

Thursday - AK, HayBoo, LL

Friday/Saturday - BB, (V&E?)

Sunday - JD
BB has something on Saturday?
Saturday's event is for those receiving CBs only

For Jackson Walker maybe it was just certain offices or just preselects but not alternates? Something like that? Also how could BB already be giving out CBs before interviewing anybody?

I was an alternate for JW and got an invite to the reception tonight. In the interview it seemed like an "everyone who had a screener interview is invited" kinda deal but I could be wrong.

Edit: I did feel that the interview went really well, fwiw

Not invited to Fulbright dinner and pretty bummed. 3.9, TLR, good interviewer. Know several other people not invited, was even more shocked they weren't invited. (Super smart, super attractive, super nice).

I don't know how the invitations were handed out, but I guess it was a pre-CB CB or perhaps some kind of second-level screener based on the fact that invitations went out after interviews. I got the call sometime after 3. Dinner was 7 or 8 tables (divided by office) of about 6-8 people per table, including attorneys. I'd guess 25 interviewees (not counting those who came for drinks but left before dinner).

They had some 1L summers, so maybe those folks already got an invite?

Fulbright reception was a really small group and seemed to be based more on your screener than your resume.

Once you cross a certain threshold with these firms, it's really about screener performance and/or pre-established ties (mostly the prior). I've met people that are awesome friends and great to grab a beer with yet interview like shit. I've also met people that are the opposite. Don't take it personally.

Edit: Wanted to add that the worst thing you could do is take it personally. Don't let this affect anything else. You have a clean slate basically everywhere else and there are a lot of interviews left.

Well, I didn't get invited to it, but I was out with a friend that did and kinda went anyways. They still had a name tag for me, so I'm not sure what to think of it.

Are you talking about the Fulbright or the JW reception? Which one did you crash?

Last year they just did their Houston CBs in a hotel in Austin the day after the screener. Are they doing that again?

Interesting. Last year, Susman gave out dinner invites in the room. They gave out about 10, but that didn't mean you definitely got a callback.

I was told they weren't doing dinner this year. They said last year they had two interview rooms, and so they wanted the interviewing attorneys to meet the top 10 or so, so they could confer and decide together, before extending callbacks. This year just one interview room, so they're extending callbacks in the room.
