20ish screeners, 6 CBs (4 in DC, 2 in secondary market), 1 DC offer and 1 DC ding, waiting on other 2 DC firms and cancelled the secondary market callbacks after my offer.

Other IP people I've talked with seem to be doing well, though my CBs and responses seem to have been earlier/closer to EIW than many.

Did you do Loyola as well? I had much more success from that than from EIW (although I also bid more conservatievly). I get the sense that people's success/struggles had a lot more to do with their background than other factors. I know EEs at median doing considerably better than MEs or bio people in the top 15%, all else being equal.

FWIW, I'm not at your school, but I've got a 3.9 GPA from a T1 school, journal, transferred into the middle of the T14, and I'm still hustling without any offers.

It's good to know I'm not alone. This sucks. Any insight as to why you're having bad luck?

Small summer classes in the market I targeted and I'm probably not a great interview (mock interviews all resulted in positive feedback, but the proof is in the pudding). I've pretty much accepted that biglaw is a pipe dream at this point and I'm struggling to keep up with classes due to feeling like absolute crap, which isn't a good thing because a drop in my GPA will only make things even worse for me.

I am really discouraged. I don't know what else to do. It is so hard to focus on classes when it feels like all my hard work last year and in undergrad amounted to nothing.

I had four CBs. 1 rejection so far. Just found out one of the firms I had a CB with has already hired a GULC student and their class is small so I doubt I will get an offer since it was probably a reach to begin with. It has been a week since one of my other CBs and no word. I have one CB left. Are there any big firms that are still worth applying to at this point in the game? What is everyone else without an offer doing now?

To this Anon: I would not necessarily give up hope for the firms that you have not heard back from. My offer did not come until almost 3 weeks after my CB.

I'm continuing to mass mail everywhere I can, 'ties' be damned. Losing hope quickly, though, and my family doesn't seem to understand that my career is basically doomed at this point. I'm doing my readings, but I am having a hard time focusing in class. Having a hard time sleeping, too. Fuck.

I know the feeling—doing journal work in particular feels like such an unfair burden given that it appears to have been of no value in fall recruiting.

But giving up and slacking off will only make things worse; at this point, for me, it's all about trying to find something, anything, productive for next summer (government or private), and then gunning for a clerkship as a stepping-stone to a firm where I would like to end up.

I am not from GULC, but from another T14 school. All I can say is that the D.C. market is tough. I had two offers from secondary markets, all from decent firms. Then I got one ding from a D.C. firm after callback and am waiting for the result from another D.C. firm (callback done earlier this week). My grades are below the average but I had years of working experience.

I had a screener on the 9th, where they said they expected to contact people "in the next week or two," so I'm not expecting to hear anything until at least Monday anyway.

Rejected from McElroy.

Still waiting to hear from 2 other firms... it's been radio silence.
