When is it safe to contact the recruiting office regarding status of a callback?

I just got 3 dings from White & Case. One email was plenty, I guess they wanted to be sure they really rejected me.

What is the takeaway when you're in a situation where both CBs and dings have been given out by your interviewer? In my case a week ago. Is it hopeful?

I'd wait until 2 weeks after your screener to follow up. So later this week is probably fine.

That you are in a holding/reserves list, and may receive a CB if first choice candidates either reject the CB, or are rejected after the CB, or are offered but subsequently reject the offer. Your waiting time will depend on which route the first choice candidates take and how high you are on that list.

I'm sorry to hear that and expecting the same (since I haven't heard and others have). Can I ask, did you get an email or was it snail mail?

Freshfields ding in the mail today.

...wondering if I haven't been hearing back from a lot of firms simply because they're late/sending dings by snail mail, as supposed to because I am on hold.

Still at 0 CB.

I've gotten like 5 or 6 snailmail rejections. Kind of surprised the number was that high. Really sorry to hear you're still at 0, btw. I wonder how many people didn't get any CB's through OCI (not that I'm doing great myself with my # of CB's).

Haha thanks. Still got 9 firms to hear back from, so I haven't lost all hope... but still hustling to mass mail to prepare for the worst!

I have gotten 4 or 5 snail mail. Might be the same ones. I was snail-mail dinged by Freshfields yesterday. Unless I know for a fact (and by fact I mean TLS and my friends :P) that rejections were sent out by my interviewer and I didn't get one, I am assuming my rejection is on its way as opposed to my being "on hold." That is my mentality at this point, negative as it may be.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
