Depends if the firm has listed "no multiple interviews"(latham) or chose the two offices to be treated as two separate firms(Kirkland).

If it's the former, then the interviewer will see. If it's the latter, then I think it depends on the firm and whether or not they're communicating b/w offices.

If a firm is listed as "no multiple interviews" (e.g. Latham) and you get a screener for Office B but not Office A in the lottery, can you still be considered for Office A if it's your first choice?

It's my understanding that successfully getting one bid with that firm will get you the interview. At the interview, the firm will likely know which bid caused the interview to be scheduled (some have different interview dates/times), but it won't know where you bid the other office. My conclusion from that info was that, for example, if I bid Latham Chi #1 and Latham NY #50 I could interview for both offices at the same time without issue.

Not sure if this is correct, but this is what I based my bidlist off of.

ETA: With bidding closed it's too late to worry about now. Sorry for the late response. Best of luck, everyone.

Landed 18 out of 45 bids. Feeling a little blue after seeing the 20+ posters above.

Missed Baker & McKenzie at 5, Jones Day (Chi) at 11, Latham (Chi) at 12, and Skadden (Chi) at 20. Only landed 2 screeners from the 21-45 bid range.

For those of you who are unhappy with your #s, you'll be able to pick up more interviews during OCI itself, so don't worry. I think most people our year had 19-20.

I'm a previous anon who posted a bidlist. If people are willing to include their "hits" I think it would be more informative--I sure would have liked to see a thread full of them when I was writing up mine..

Anyone know how many open slots for big NY firms have opened up in the past? I got a good number of interviews in the market I'm targeting, but not as many in NY as I'd hoped...which is a little worrisome given my median grades.

Thanks

Look for the lower-ranked firms on the last few days of interviews. This will be when people are starting to look at the number of callbacks they have and cancelling at firms they consider to be "inferior."

If anyone has gotten an interview from mass mailing, could you share the firm so we can make sure to apply too?

In my experience, mass mailing is useless. You should be networking at firms at which you can tell a plausible story about wanting to work there. Email alums and ask to chat -- after you speak, send then your résumé and have them forward it to recruiting. Otherwise it won't get looked at.

I can tell you the firms I had success getting screeners at, but it wouldn't help you. Work your connections.

27/50. 13 Chi, 6 LA, 6 TX, two randoms. 177-178 range, no LR.
Top 10 all Chi (the normal suspects). 11-16 LA, got all. 4 more Chi, missed two (Mayer Brown and Bryan Cave). 10 TX after that, landed 6.

Good luck to all.

That's not necessarily true. Last year I did a huge mass mailing campaign to firms where I had never met anyone, and got nearly a dozen interviews.

There's no reason not to mass mail every firm of every size in your target markets that you will not be interviewing with at OCI. The return rate will be small, but likely greater than zero.

This. I have heard of Quinn, Polsinelli(secondary), Cahill, Willkie, and Brown Rudnick so far (this list doesn't include the loyola patent fair).

Doesn't effect you, bidding is done just do as well as you can in all of your interviews and get a job.

If we tell you the GPA cutoff is 179 or 174, I don't see how your behavior changes either way.

You risk being outed by posting in the employment forum as a 0L, so be careful.

I think we all plan on sharing grades when it comes to getting callbacks, but they are irrelevant for bidlists as people have various idiosyncratic desires that could cause them to be bidding too aggressively, too safely, or horribly (bidding tons of markets, for example). By the time bidding rolls around for you next year, people will in general have a good idea of the grades you need for various firms, and you can use our critiques of bidlists to explore this further (and past threads, for that matter).

My advice would be to relax as 1L approaches, we look forward to seeing you all in the fall, but please leave the OCI thread to students.
