Emailed a polite but firm inquiry several hours ago, no reply. Lovely.

Re: 2013 CCBA Minority Job Fair
I'm not surprised. More than one fellow who attended last year told me that some interviewers told them that they actually didn't have any openings, but were going through the motions just in case they found someone "truly exceptional" (I guess that meant that they would then fire someone to create a vacancy?). If they didn't find this "exceptional" individual, then they could at least appear to support diversity.Anonymous User wrote:obviously the CCBA was a scam to get our resumes and there are actually no jobs available
So, we can all console ourselves with the realization that even if these clowns don't give us a think, maybe there was nothing to begin with.

All I know is we're going to get a very exasperated email saying they won't be ready until Monday at the earliest.Anonymous User wrote:I'm not surprised. They emailed me saying they are waiting on one firm to submit their selections.
If they had a backbone they would tell the firm that the deadline is absolute and they will be kicked out of the fair.

Maybe you could email them again, asking of there is actually a deadline, or are they going to cancel the CCBA fair just because a firm didn't get its shit together. I wish we knew which firm it is, so that we could out it as a firm that really doesn't give a damn about diversity.greenchair wrote:They emailed me saying they are waiting on one firm to submit their selections.

I hate this fair. The way these administrators are screwing this up makes it seem that we're all holding a tin cup, begging for a chance to talk to a firm, any firm, and we'll subject ourselves to abuse such as this firm's delay. But the truth is, we don't give a f__k about this one firm 'cause they obviously don't care about the fair. Just give us the results from the rest of the firms that did their job.

What I don't understand is why they didn't just release every one but that firm, like what BADCF did.

Also I feel like being impolite in any potential job hunt setting in which your personal information is revealed is just a recipe for disaster.Anonymous User wrote:You really think that will make them put up the schedules any faster?greenchair wrote:My inquiry was not polite. No reply.

You may be right. But remember that the problem here is not the firms, but the incompetence of the people charged with administering the CCBA fair. They get PAID to a job, and they have a track record of failing miserably. Worse, they’re not responsive and don’t bother to keep us informed and only give out a short reply after repeated pestering from us. They treat us like they’re doing us all a big favor by doing their job.Anonymous User wrote:Also I feel like being impolite in any potential job hunt setting in which your personal information is revealed is just a recipe for disaster.Anonymous User wrote:You really think that will make them put up the schedules any faster?greenchair wrote:My inquiry was not polite. My complaint is that this doesn’t happen at other fairs, regardless of whether they are diversity or for other interests.
Lastly, you're wrong. They're just drones with the job of handling data, and don't get to review our personal data or make hiring decisions, and believing that only makes them feel more important than they actually are.

How is it possible to get 0 interviews if 50% of the interviews were supposed to be decided by lottery? Is that even possible?

Also really pissed I didn't get Littler. T14, only management-side L&E work this summer, moot court, employment lit clinic.
