For data point: Top 10% (not VLR), bid all DC = 2 callbacks. Keep hanging in there everyone!

Almost the exact same experience. Top 10%, not VLR and only one DC CB. Not stressing, just want to let everyone know they're not alone.

What is top 10 percent? Is there creedence to the argument 3.5 v 3.7 doesn't matter for this process? If so I regret not having a life.

Anon post from above - I assume 3.65 is top 10%? In my experience there is a huge difference between 3.5 and 3.7 in the big markets. Mainly because you are competing against all the VLR people...or I was in almost all my interview rooms.

Still unsure as to why this matters a lot. The firm would just callback more people from UVa, and less from Penn?

Do you have any other callbacks in other markets, or did you go all in on DC? I've been concerned about the # of VLR people who seem to be on secondary market interview lists also. Wondering if VLR members are just hoarding all the CBs in all markets...is top 10% having trouble all across the board this year?

Top 10% is approximately a 3.65. The difference between a 3.5 vs. a 3.7 isn't that significant except for very few firms (Cravath, S&C, W&C, Cov., GDC - DC). That's not to say the difference doesn't matter, but if your peers with 3.5s have stronger resumes and interview better than you, they're probably going to perform better at OGI.

I wouldn't "regret not having a life." If you're unhappy with your firm, keep your grades up, secure a federal clerkship, and switch firms. It's a lot easier to do that with a 3.65 than with a 3.5.

Yeah, that's the reason I'm not stressing. I've been fortunate enough to get a couple CBs in secondary markets, but there's also a good number of the secondary firms that haven't gotten back to me either way.

I'm top 15% with 11 callbacks in secondary, NY, and DC. Not urm. not VLR. some work experience.

Every year some people with sterling credentials struggle and some people with less sterling credentials shine. You want to be the person with high grades, but they are not the only factor and they aren't sufficient on their own.

Don't get neurotic about minute differences and DEFINITELY don't compare yourself to other individuals or groups. Solve all anxiety by applying to more jobs and get the hell off of TLS / out of the thread where people are tracking receipt of callbacks.
