What are the odds of CB to offer? We have some Columbia data, but in NYC would it not make sense to CB more from Columbia because it's less $$$$ or is this pennies compared to the partners' time?

I found it on TLS, but IDK how accurate it is. Search callback to offer ratio.olive16 wrote:Anonymous User wrote:What are the odds of CB to offer? Re: 2013 UVA OGI Thread
The average callback from a major firm is about 60% to 70% callback -> offer rate.
Some firms, like S&C, have much higher ratios (close to 90, 95, maybe even 100%). Others, like DPW, have lower ratios (closer to 30 to 40 percent). Plenty of firms fall between, around 50%.
It's hard to speak in generalities, but smaller firms with smaller class sizes often have worse ratios because they can afford to have a low ratio given the smaller scale.
If you want more data, there's broad data about callbacks/offers published by NALP in the perspectives on fall hiring reports. Individual schools often release robust data sets privately on stipulation they don't be released - but if you have friends at other schools...
Having seen a lot of the data over many years, there's not a large difference between NYC schools or between schools within the T14 once you get to the callback stage. There can be before that (i.e. many years, getting an interview or CB with Cravath is damn near impossible from UVA, but not materially harder than other big name firms at Columbia).

I would be careful about reading into past data too much. This hiring cycle is already looking significantly different than the previous few years. I would expect firms to be more selective this cycle than last. I have also heard some anecdotal evidence that 3L hiring may see an up tick.

I don't understand why this year would be different. It seems as though all past drops and gains could be traced directly to the economy, and there is nothing about the 2013 legal economy that seems different than 2012?Anonymous User wrote:I would be careful about reading into past data too much. People say this every year. Generally, the biggest changes are just the size of firm summer classes, not the nuts and bolts of each step of the process.Anonymous User wrote:I would be careful about reading into past data too much.
