What firms should I target with a 3.0 from P if I'm bidding NYC? I have two years WE, diverse (immigrant to the US).

Any help is appreciated.

Penn doesn't say either. Median is probably around a 3.3 after 1L but no one really knows about ranking or what median really is. The grade distributions we got from CP&P are pretty informative and there's a ton of people, even with kind of meh GPAs, that still get damn good firms.

3.0 is bottom quarter at most. Not impossible to get a firm job with those grades, but not an ideal situation either. Less selective NYC firms with big-ish classes and firms in markets to which you have super-solid ties are your friend. Start mass-mailing non-OCI employers soon. Scour the resume collects. If you have any kind of connections, leverage them early and often. You have a shot if you hustle now.

Edit: I just saw you have a diverse background. Obviously go to every diversity network event/job fair possible. This is by far your best shot at something good (though by no means take this as a signal to disregard any previous suggestions).

Good luck.

OP here. Yeah, we don't get class rank/median info from school. Thanks for everyone's help! This will be interesting next couple of months.

Someone posted a bunch of this a few years ago. Much of it was Georgetown and UVA data if memory serves. They had firms listed by GPA selectivity and a bunch of advice for bidding. Spending a few hours searching for that and other TLS advice might be a good idea.
