I'm still trying to decide. I just have one interview so far and might wait to see if I pick up anything in the lottery. It's a firm that I think would be a good fit and it's not too much of a reach, but I'm on a limited budget so I'm wondering if I'd be better off spending the $700 to go out and network in one of my other markets.

Just happened. Got it, too.

It's now crossed out. Now the only employers who haven't submitted preselects are:
Downey Brand
SF DA's office
Shute Mihaly & Weinberger

I don't know if anyone here also registered for the SFIPLA fair for the day after, but FYI the schedule is out.

For Latham, does anyone know if it is 34 interviews total for SF and SV OR 34 for each office? Thanks.

Does anyone know how this alternate interview registration works? Do I just wait by the computer at 11:50 p.m. tomorrow and try to secure an interview with the firm in question?

Interview schedules seem to be up, and the estimated 2L slots has changed for all of the firms. Does this mean the lottery has already run? Can anyone confirm having gotten any lottery interviews?

... I appear to have an interview with a firm I didn't even bid on. No complaining, but what?

Wait, never mind, I did bid on them, but it said not invited. Now I'm scheduled for an interview. Maybe lottery is already up?

This was the firm I bid 3rd, if anybody's interested.

Can someone tell me why I did not get a lottery interview with my no. 1, 2 and 3 bids even though they each have open interview slots left? Unbelievable...

I got my number 2 firm.
Do people only get one lottery?

some people get one, some two, some none. I got zero from lottery, even with open spots at 2 and 3; but I do have 6 interviews scheduled, with two alternates, so I shouldn't complain. I was just really hoping I would get the 2 bid in lottery.

For posterity, it looks like if you accept more than 10 preselects, only the 10 preselects you bid the highest will be scheduled. No complaints from my end, I'm obviously happy with my interview schedule.

Does anyone know anything about what Shute typically looks for in a candidate?

Can I ask how much work you put into those bids? I have similar stats and feel like I underperformed my numbers on pre-selects. I had to do all my bidding last minute so I did zero cover-letters and am sort of hoping that was the issue and not that I have a terrible off-putting resume or writing sample.

I wrote individual cover letters for each firm that required a cover letter (may seven or eight of my 25 submissions). Granted, 80% of the material was identical from one cover letter to the next, but I tried to at least link a firm's specialty/strength to an observable quality/experience listed on my resume. Outside of that, I wouldn't say I put any more "work" into bids than any one else would have. I didn't bid all "top" firms, I saved a handful for my school's OCI because I knew that they were going to be there.
