Drug Testing at the DA's Office?
I recently completed my first year of law school. I have an externship lined up (which I'm really excited about) in the DA's Office in my hometown. Here's my problem:
After several weeks of consuming massive amounts of coffee/soda from dusk til dawn to get through finals, coupled with virtually no physical activity aside from pouring over study materials, I packed on way too much extra weight. My personal vanity aside, this meant almost none of my professional clothes still fit. Needing to drop the weight quickly in time to begin my externship, I got some Adipex (prescription diet pills) from a friend. I've already been taking them for several days, but upon doing some research today, I discovered they often give a false positive on drug tests for amphetamines. These pills seem to stay in your system for up to four days, and my externship begins Monday.
I had an internship in another DA's Office as an undergrad, and wasn't drug tested then, but I'm looking for some info on what my chances are of getting tested as a law student.

Well a ADA in New Orleans had a joint fall out of his pocket in open court. He didn't lose his job.
That's the stupidest reason to do drugs I've ever heard btw.

Lmao, no way. As much as I love N.O., it's a far different place than my neck of the woodsdextermorgan wrote:Well a ADA in New Orleans had a joint fall out of his pocket in open court. He didn't lose his job.

Btw--is there a "smart" reason to do drugs?

Perhaps. Except, it actually served a purpose: to lose weight fast enough to be able to fit into my professional attire, as I can't afford a whole new wardrobe. A "quick fix" to a legitimate problem, instead of "I wanna get fucked up!" They're diet pills for Christ sake. That, and I honestly had no idea the crap would potentially show up on a drug screen...but I'll concede that that ignorance WAS dumb.

I've heard mixed stories... some getting tested and some not, depending on the county.
Do you have a prescription? If so, no problem. If not (as it appears), well, hope you don't test poz (or go try to get one now), because taking (and for that matter acquiring) a scheduled drug without a prescription is a no-no pretty much everywhere.

Stop taking diet pills and start a weightlifting regimen

OP- typically DA's Office do not drug test unpaid interns. Select offices do require testing for paid interns. Still, those who interning for free should still abstain from any drugs prohibited by law regardless of what your personal views on them are.
