Stay-at-home-mom to law job?

I graduated from YLS several years ago and have never practiced law. When my first child was born, I just couldn't bear the thought of leaving my child during the day, and so when I graduated from law school, I didn't look for a job, and I've spend the last several years as primarily a stay-at-home-mom.
Now my kids are older, and I'm eager to start building a career for myself. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth my while to even try to get a legal job, after such a long gap in legal employment. Am I too late?
I'd love to hear from anyone with experience trying to break back in after taking time off. I'd also like to hear what paths you think might be more forgiving for a non-traditional attorney like me.
Thanks!
