Does anyone know what the general timeline is for Justice to announce te next year's program? I seem to remember the components hiring being updated sometime around early June, with more specific information for certain components, but I am curious about when the initial year opening update will occur, or when it normally occurs.
I recognize the program may suffer from the sequester, but I anticipate many components will still participate, due to a constant turnover in their workforce, and the fact that they need attorneys, not just a glut of gs-14 paralegals...
Also, if anyone could clarify the background check for civil components, like commercial litigation branch, torts branch, USTP, etc., I'd appreciate it.

Re: 2014 DOJ Honors Program Question
The program generally opens at the very end of July, and applications are due right after Labor Day. There's a timeline on the DOJ webpage for this - it hasn't varied from year to year before now, so I'm assuming it will be the same. I don't know how far in advance the components are announced, but early June sounds about right.
(Don't know anything about the civil components' background checks, sorry.)

Re: 2014 DOJ Honors Program Question
Thanks. I'm familiar with the program, but I seem to remember it getting updated earlier, in April or May, with additional, "finalized" details added in June, at least for one of the components I'm interested in.
Just wondering if anyone had a better idea of when the initial update giving anticipated hiring numbers was posted.
