Does firm culture carry across offices?

Postby wert3813 » Fri Apr 05, 2013 11:28 am

This is probably a dumb question but is it fairly common for ABC Law Firm in NY to have a completely different culture vibe from ABC Law Firm in DC from ABC Law Firm in SF? Or do certain traits of a firm permeate in every city?

Like everything else, it depends ....

There are several factors to consider

1) Was the office started by homegrown partners/lawyers?

2) Was the office the result of a merger/lateral hires?

3) How much time has passed since the merger/lateral hires?

4) Have there been significant numbers of mergers/lateral hires elsewhere in the firm?

5) Does the law firm promote to partner more laterals or more homegrown people?

6) Geographic differences?
