It's the Vault rankings, and it also means you shouldn't be anonymous and shouldn't be in this forum

V100, still waiting, haven't heard any rumors. We got salary advance and bar reimbursement forms and bar class is paid for at least.

V20 NYC office, 10/28 (I think may be firm-wide start date)

V5 here...late September start, no choice offered in response to whoever said V10 lets you choose. I don't mind not having a choice, but if I did, I'd definitely pick the earliest one even if it was August 15 (would maybe draw the line at Aug 1 haha).

Also this is a lulzy overreactive response:

Who? Well, for starters, apparently every participant in this thread who added a start date without a firm name (e.g., via V##).

Also, it's not complete anon—admins, mods, and future mods can see through the anon feature. Who knows who else might see through it in the future. Plus my firm isn't broadcasting/making their start date googleable, so I won't either.

And why are you rudely complaining via anon? Think it's going to persuade me or future anon posters to out their firm? Recalculate. http://www.amazon.com/How-Win-Friends-I ... 0671027034
I agree about the lack of need for super secret anonymity. Regardless, I have never seen someone in our generation reference 'how to win friends and influence people' ever, let alone on the Internet. ..chillax

Hindsight's 20/20 on the overreaction, fellas. Had a couple of drinks in me at the time. Usually I try to stick with productive comments... sorry for derailing things here.

Not happy with mine. Also no indication of when we'll get practice group assignments.

I normally am a huge DPW cheerleader, but the lack of transparency is killing me. If they could just say, "we'll tell you your practice group 1 week before your start date," I wouldn't mind. I just need some certainty here. Also- the notion that $7,500 is enough to last until November is ridiculous.

Is that 7500 in addition to a bar advance/stipend, or total?

Also, FWIW, my firm didn't say anything about practice groups either, but I don't believe it is as rigid as DPW is in terms of being put into one specific area.

The $7,500 is an advance, which is the only cash that we're getting. DPW reimburses for all bar expenses, does direct-billing for Bar Bri, has booked us hotel rooms for the bar, and has direct-billing for movers. So basically, what we're getting is Bar Expenses + Relocation + $7,500 advance.

They already booked the rooms for you? That's nice. Are they close? (assuming Albany)

The letter that came with the questionnaire says that we'll learn our practice group on our first day. Maybe you guys missed that?

Still radio silence from Ropes & Gray, a little ridiculous in my opinion (although I know we aren't the only firm still waiting).

Not at Ropes or Cahill, but I also have nothing (NYC V100). Felt like I was the only one that didn't know, so I guess I feel a little better now :?.
