USCIS Entry Level Attorney Positions

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Mar 21, 2013 1:51 pm

Hi,

Does anyone have a sense of how many positions they're hiring for, or how many interviews they've done?

I know the list was for 16-18 locations, does that mean 16-18 jobs? Or more at headquarters?

Also, I know they did two weeks worth of interviews, but does anyone have a sense of how many that actually adds up to?

I interviewed last week and instead of going crazy waiting for them to make their decision, I'm trying to figure out what my chances are. I mean, I feel good getting an interview out of 2,700 applicants, but the waiting is still driving me nuts.

So, they indicated at your interview that they were done interviewing? Just wondering if I should cross this one off my list.

I don't want to out my source, but from what I've heard and inferred therefrom, there are 8 positions and approximately 15 people interviewed.

They told me that they were interviewing last week and this week, and then making decisions.

going nuts already, which I know is crazy, since it is government after all and bound to take a few days, if not a few weeks.

I had my interview 3/14. I too am going crazy. Also, I had assumed they were hiring many more than just 8 attorneys. Sigh.

1/14? Did you have a screener interview? My OCS said they were doing screener interviews too, though I hadn't heard anyone mention them.

I too thought it would be more than 8, though I guess that is a lot for them.

I don't think so; I only had one interview. I got contacted 3/4 to come in for an in-person interview, which took place 3/14.
What is OCS, by the way?
Thanks.

Ah, sorry, I just realized I had written 1/14 instead of 3/14 in my original post.

Ah I know what you mean; I've tried to save all the known 202 numbers in my phone for that reason.

I'll keep you updated if/when I hear anything and please do the same!

Yeah, I'm confused as to why they would list 16-18 locations and then only hire 8 people. It's not like you're doing national work, if you get placed in Cleveland, you're dealing with the cases that come through Cleveland. Wouldn't they care where you get placed based on workload?

I believe we're only talking about entry level full time atty positions here.

Can the OP provide any more insight into the 8 positions intel?

The cities were listed as possible placements, so it makes sense that there is not one spot per city, but just that they hadn't figured out where exactly to place new attys yet.

However, I did think there were several openings at HQ too, so it just wouldn't be that big of a class if there are only 8 in total.

All pretty much useless conjecture at this point...just waiting :-)

No, but I've been told it should be coming in the mail and not to worry.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
