fishfry111 wrote:As for interviews, what's the general feeling? I'm glad I didn't get any nightmare creeners grilling me. Only one asked a "why their firm" questions, and I think I answred okay, but couldn't really differentiate...........after all, except for the Lit or Pros slant, one firm is as good as another. Any of you guys run into a roadblock?
I was actually surprised how many places talked about themselves instead of asking me questions. They seemed to be there to sell their firm to me. I'm not sure if that was a good or bad thing, but I honestly felt at a few points like it was a waste of our time.

One interview had two people grilling me almost the entire time on my undergraduate degrees. They were asking what specific courses and research I did, even asking what specific things were taught in courses from freshman year up until senior year. It wasn't bad but it was a departure from all of the others that were more relaxed.

Only 2 of my interviews asked for my UG transcript and asked anything about it. The rest of them were like oh, you are an EE? Good.

What was everyone's experience with Quinn Emanuel? The interviewers were very easy to talk to, but they asked me incredibly specific questions that seemed designed to test how much I knew about the firm, and I'm pretty sure I flunked that badly.

Did the older guy from O'Melveny waste anyone else's time detailing his plan to overhaul Congress?

The O'Melveny guy was a total drag. That was the one interview today that I felt seriously tanked. Thought maybe I was just tired but glad other people thought he was crap.

Quinn folks were pretty cool I thought, I just don't have any real reason to be in any of their IP locations.

Nope, you're fine as long as you checked in once already. There will be a second day of alternate cattle call though.

Seconding this.
If you guys were talking about nyc mb then you might be right. Last yeara i had a God awful interview with them, I literally mumbled for 20 seconds. They seemed totally uninterested. I wrote it off. Then I got a CB. I'm pretty sure it's a glorified resume drop.
Do you remember how the CB went? Was it several hours of meeting with equally uninterested partners and associates? 'Cause I'm not sure I want to work in a place of drones.

I know of a few people that did, one or two in person and the rest by voice mail or email. Some smaller firms and some bigger.

GT Chicago: Not the most approachable interview, it was one of those interviews where you walked out not knowing if you did well or not. That was my impression. One of the interviewers hardly asked any question, he just sat there and read through transcripts.

Yeah but I don't know how many callbacks they gave so I don't want to out anyone. I guess I can say that of the two bigger firms, one is in New York and the other is in the Bay Area, and both are very highly ranked in IP.

Did anyone here do SIPJF?

I had 10 screeners, one CB so far. Curious what firms are calling already vs waiting until after PLIP?
