Haha wasn't going to but I guess I might as well now.

Hey everyone, if anyone already has a room or still needs one and is interested in splitting (31st/1st), please message me. :) Would love to save what money I can on this trip. I'm a girl, btw.

For anyone looking for a room, I have a nice room at the hotel across the street. To share it, just transfer 3 of your interview slots. For a bargain price of 5 slots, you can have the whole room.

0L intruding with a Q. I don't know if this has been discussed yet but do they ask specifics about projects you've done during your work ? Say I have projects that I'm not allowed to talk about, what do I say then? Would a general overview along with a "cannot talk about much in detail" suffice?

Do we need to bring cover letters to interviews? Or just the document they requested if any?

I shouldn't bother flying to SF for just one interview, right?

One is better than none, but to be honest, if you are flying all the way out to SF just for 1 interview, I probably wouldn't do it.

Depends. In the really unlikely event that you wind up with a CB (requiring another flight) and then an offer, you'll pat yourself on the back. Or you could end up flying back while kicking yourself for all that effort spent for a single 20-minute slot with an interviewer who's more interested in a crossword puzzle. Luck of the draw.

Sorry if this has been asked, but what does the "Total Slots" column mean on the OCI/interview/bidding tab?

What kind of writing samples will people be bringing with them? I have a few different briefs or memos that I've written but I feel like I don't have anything that's IP related and substantial enough? Anyone else running into the same dilemma?

Any San Franciscans want to let me crash on their couch a couple days for SFIPLA? I would pay pretty well. Multicity plane ticket + hotel for basically a week is killing me

Does anyone know how selective Fish is overall? I can’t find very much info on it. I didn’t get them through PLIP and I’m wondering if it’s even worth trying to interview with them through my school. Not CS/EE and about median at a non-HYS T14.

Yeah, did not land one at PLIP, but snagged a screener for them at SIPJF. Not counting on it going anywhere though.

Thanks. I think I could very likely get an interview with them through OCI since apparently almost no one bids on them, but why bother if I'm below whatever cutoff they have?

Out of curiosity, what is their cutoff?

No clue, but I assume "very selective" = median ain't gonna cut it.

A very common question for me, and maybe most important question to have a thoughtful answer for was "Why patent law?"

Other common ones:

"Why [location]?"

"Tell me about your research/technical background."

And of course, the most common question of all: "Do you have any questions for me?"

All of those questions can be a good springboard for a comfortable back-and-forth conversation if you handle them well, which is what you really want. Don't go into any interview without having thought of how you will respond to those questions.

Is there any way to tell how many rooms a particular employer has set up? Any past PLIPers have any insight into this? In general I'm assuming that if I have a screener for Baker Botts (houston) it is probably more likely to be less slots than say Quinn Emmanuel (firmwide) but I know that's just a guess.

You mean employer set up more than one room? I thought its just the same interviewers interviewing for however many students they're interviewing.

I was kind of assuming that some firms/offices interviewing on only one day were probably interviewing more than 16 people. Especially some of the larger firms. Maybe (hopefully) I'm wrong about that.

I think that the firmwide interviews have one room/16 slots, and firms where the interviews are by a particular location have one room/16 slots per location. Multiply the slots by two if the firm is interviewing on both days.
