25 preselects and 1 alternate. That's insane. Betting that my undergrad grades scare off at least 24 of them though...

Congrats to everyone who got interviews, good luck.

Whew, ok. 6 preselects, 5 alts. I'm relieved because I did my bid list in a huge rush and realized afterwards I probably bid very poorly (targeted DC and CA, despite not really being competitive for either, I think. I'm looking at my bid list and there's only 2 NY offices I bid on and both preselected me, will commence kicking myself...now. I also didn't use all my bids. I'm just hitting ALL the balls here). Engineering bg (but not EE) and 2 yrs WE. At a T14 (somewhere between 4-10, inclusive) and about median first semester, probably still about there after 2nd.

Good luck & congrats to everyone, here we gooooo.

11 interviews. 1 alternate.

They sure don't give you lots of time between interviews... 5 min to get from one room to another.

Anyone know if these firms know whether they are interviewing someone at a different job fair (e.g. SIPJF)? For couple firms, I got interviews at SIPJF but got dinged at Loyola. Not sure if this means anything or if I'm just being paranoid.

Good luck everyone!

Credentials?

Seems the common theme for success so far is extensive work experience.

Top 10% at lower T14, B.S. in computer engineering, no relevant work experience at all, straight through from undergrad.

It probably varies by firms. One office may be doing one, and another the other. If you're applying for ATL firms, the SIPJF bid makes more sense if you were going to both. Sometimes it may just be different selection committees for each fair.

18 preselects, 6 alternates... ecstatic! I'm out of firms to bid on for regular OCI! (Got all of my top 10 choices)

4 Years WE, 5-10% @ T20, NO TECH DEGREE

21 preselects and 3 alternates. Kinda bummed at the low percentage. But then I am probably not as attractive to lit.

I plastered the US and got West Coast, East Coast and points in between.

Top 15%, T100 (yeah its lower than 100), Assorted other degrees, >10 years WE and many patents of my own.

Anyone interested in sharing hotel room for the job fair?

I got the room from double tree July 31 - August 3rd through the program discount ($625.07) mentioned on one of our emails.
I looked around the area for cheaper hotel and it seems like all hotels in this area are pretty expensive anyways.
I got the 2 queen beds room.

I am 30 male.
If someone is interested, please pm me (as I rarely look at this forum or check for response here).
I only got interviews for the 8/1, nothing on the 8/2 unless some alternates change into interviews, so if you wanna tour the city together for 8/1 that'll be nice if you want.

Thanks.

7 interviews...not sure if those 5 resume collects are all decided or not some were fairly recent applications. Tier 4 here with half of a tech degree (been getting it during law school). My question is about when it is appropriate to re-apply to places that rejected. I booked trademark law and got a job at a small IP firm AFTER applications went out, would love to shoot these firms an e-mail and throw those tid bits in just in case I was close : )

Is it worth traveling for this if you're not eligible for the patent bar? I only bid GP firms that didn't require patent bar eligibility (according to their profile), but based on what people have been saying in this thread about firms wanting eligibility for patent lit, wondering if there's a realistic shot of turning some of the screeners into callbacks and offers. 10 interviews + 3 alternates, top 10% at T6.

10 interviews? Yes.

Just have a good answer to why you're there and not PB eligible other than "hey brah, just trying to improve my odds" even if everyone knows that what it is.

Just interviewed at NYC firm last week (lucky, because they dinged me at PLIP. FWIW, consider this:
Firm was heavily IP-Lit, with about Lit:Pros ratio at bout 42:6. The firm was looking for EE specifically, and definitely to add to their IP-LLit arsenal. However, they told me in no uncertain terms that, if hired, they definitely would require me to take the PB, based on the presumption that knowing Pros work makes you a better IP litigator.
(This point was also discussed earlier in this thread).
Yeah, this is what I'm worried about (and thanks to both of you for the answers). I guess I'm wondering how seriously to take the "no" answers to the question regarding being qualified to take the patent bar - I skimmed through last year's thread, but don't remember seeing results from other non-eligible people, although it's possible I missed some.

I am the 16 preselects w/ pharma WE from above. My alts showed up today: 4 out of market and 1 in market (laughably, an alternate (20)).

How likely are alternate (1)'s and (2)'s at non-NYC V10/20?

are most of the interviewers male? will being female have an effect (positive or negative) on prospects?

also, i got an interview with a firm i was pretty sure i was completely out of their grade range. is that good? or do you think they aren't really planning on hiring anyone and just wanted to fill up interview slots? if i got a preselect can i stop worrying about my grades and just focus on making a good interview impression? my grades are only slightly better after 2nd semester.

If it just says "alternate" with no number next to it does that mean the firm didn't rank alternates or you're alternate 1?

3L w/ biology-related B.S. (few courses short of patent bar eligibility), no WE, top 30% at T25. Bid only NY/DC firms (not a lot available to 3Ls...) and got two alternate interviews only  . I'm actually not THAT bummed b/c I like my SA so far at an IP-heavy firm. NY/DC firms typically offer close to 100% of their summers and my firm is no exception, but I really don't want to take the chance of being no offered. Since I applied to PLIP, I have booked Patent Law and gotten to the top 20%. Should I reapply to the firms that rejected me at PLIP? I feel like my improvement may not be significant enough to overcome whatever it was that led them to reject me. I am only interested in IP lit. Thanks

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
